IGN Names the 10 Best Survival Horror Games of All Time

The editors of IGN have defined four key pillars of the genre — overwhelming enemy power, maze-like locations with puzzles, resource scarcity, and constant tension. Based on these criteria, the top spot went to Resident Evil 2 (the 2019 remake), followed by Silent Hill 2 and Alien: Isolation.

According to the editors, more action-oriented titles such as Resident Evil 4 and Dead Space didn’t make the list — they stray too far from classic survival horror.
Earlier, reports surfaced that Capcom has been working for several years on a remake of Resident Evil 0.
