“Smoke for Ants”: Battlefield 6 Players Mock the Useless Smoke Mortar
Artis Kenderik
Players of Battlefield 6 have found a new reason to joke — the recently unlocked smoke mortar has turned out to be almost completely useless. Instead of providing real cover on the battlefield, it produces a tiny puff of smoke barely large enough to hide a bush.
The weapon unlocks at support level 49 and is meant to “shield squad movement,” but in practice, it creates a cloud the size of a kiddie pool. A video test from TikTok creator Hypedreamzgaming showed that even standard smoke grenades cover several times more area.
I’ve seen thirteen-year-olds blow vape clouds bigger than this.
On Reddit, the mortar has already been dubbed “smoke for ants.” One user wrote: “This is just sad. Completely useless.” Others joked that its only purpose is to scare predators away from field mice. Most agree the gadget feels severely undercooked. Despite positive impressions of the shooter overall many players believe Battlefield 6 could’ve used “another six months of polish.”
