Abylight Studios has unveiled a physical edition of the horror classic SOMA for Nintendo Switch, along with a special limited collector’s edition in celebration of the game’s 10th anniversary. Originally developed by Frictional Games and released on PC in 2015, SOMA is now available on Nintendo’s console in a fully optimized version with enhanced performance.
The game is compatible with Switch 2, featuring upgraded visuals and performance on the new console: higher resolution, a stable frame rate mode, improved textures, and reduced loading times. The portable console’s screen also delivers extra image clarity.
The collector’s edition, available exclusively via Kickstarter, includes a 16GB cartridge with the full version of SOMA, a reversible cover with alternate artwork, an exclusive 88-page full-color artbook, a metal miniature of an in-game device with enamel and a printed screen, 24 tracks from Mikko Tarmia’s soundtrack in an exclusive digipak, a sticker set featuring game characters and logos, and a special collector’s box.
The standard edition is priced at €39.99 (or €36 with the Kickstarter discount). The collector’s edition costs €84.99, with a Kickstarter price of €77. Notably, shipping is not available to Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, or Afghanistan.
Production of the collector’s edition is exclusive to Kickstarter, ensuring each copy’s uniqueness with no future reprints. The campaign also helps speed up production, improve quality, and better gauge demand. Shipping is scheduled for February 2026, with delivery fees paid separately after the campaign through Kickstarter’s system.
SOMA is a sci-fi psychological horror from Frictional Games set in the underwater facility PATHOS-II, long cut off from the outside world. The game delivers a tense atmosphere, exploration, and moral choices, raising profound questions about consciousness, identity, and what it means to be human.
Players encounter infected humans, dangerous creatures, deranged robots, and an omnipresent AI, while exploring locked terminals and secret documents to uncover the station’s mysteries and find the last survivors. Survival requires caution, cleverness, and a unique approach to each enemy, as direct confrontation is often futile.
By the way, Epic Games Store is currently giving away another Frictional Games title for free — Amnesia: The Bunker.
