Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader Receives Massive 1.5 Update Packed With New Content

Owlcat Games has released the biggest update yet for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader — patch 1.5, which brings major gameplay overhauls and a wealth of new content. The Koronus Expanse looks completely different now, with reworked progression systems, class balance, and a wide range of new features.

The update introduces four new NPC portraits, along with 45 new items for both Xenos and Astartes. The team has also completely reworked the archetypes for the Astra Militarum Commander, Adeptus Ministorum Priest, Commissar, and Imperial Navy Officer. On top of that, 25 new talents have been added, exotic weapons have been improved, and a new familiar system has been introduced — familiars now reflect the Lord Captain’s beliefs. Companion builds, colony rewards, and Lex Imperialis content have also received major visual and mechanical updates.

The experience system has undergone a significant rework, offering smoother and more balanced progression. A complete rebalance of weapons and classes — including Bladedancer and Executioner — has been carried out, with several abilities redesigned from the ground up. The Lord Captain’s familiar now plays a much deeper role, evolving based on the chosen Path — Iconoclast, Heretic, or Dogmatic — and altering its appearance, abilities, and impact on allies accordingly.

Owlcat has also polished the game’s narrative, fixing hundreds of inconsistencies, bugs, and logical issues across epilogues, romances, and side quests. Storylines tied to Lex Imperialis and the character Irliet have been made more cohesive and better aligned with the main campaign.

The patch adds dozens of unique new weapons and armor sets, including gear for Drukhari, Aeldari, and Space Marines. Highlights include the first-ever Astartes thunder hammer, new plasma weapons, exotic blades, and rare power armor variants.

In addition, numerous crashes and freezes have been fixed, and console optimization — including PS5 performance — has been significantly improved. Scene transitions and autosave operations are now much more stable.

The previous game version (1.4.1.231) remains available via Steam’s beta branch for players using mods, though co-op mode is disabled and compatibility with future updates is not guaranteed. The full patch notes can be found here.

Earlier, Owlcat Games revealed the Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy alpha testing. As for Rogue Trader, the game is expected to launch soon on Nintendo Switch 2.
