The developers behind the military shooter Battlefield 6 have announced that tomorrow (at 8:00 PT), they will unveil the gameplay trailer for a brand-new standalone battle royale mode called REDSEC. This mode will be available as a free-to-play experience, meaning gamers can jump in without needing to purchase the main Battlefield 6 game.
What’s more, EA isn’t just showing off the gameplay — the battle royale mode will launch simultaneously on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
The first details about the battle royale mode surfaced back in September. We already know that matches will feature up to 100 players, divided into 25 squads of four. If a squad member is eliminated, they can be brought back into the fight, but only if the team has a mobile respawn beacon and a Support-class character.
The mode will also feature a "Deadly Ring" that gradually shrinks the playable area. Any player caught outside the safe zone will be instantly eliminated. You can find a full breakdown of the battle royale’s features here.
Battlefield 6 launched for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on October 10 this year and received high marks from critics. On Steam, the game currently holds a 70% rating (at the time of writing).
By the way, Battlefield 6’s first season kicks off on October 28, alongside the massive 1.1.1.0 update.
