Battlefield 6 Players Are Unhappy with the New Blackwell Fields Map

The launch of Season 1 in Battlefield 6 turned out to be less successful than expected. Alongside the update, the new map Blackwell Fields was added to the game — but the community’s reaction has been overwhelmingly negative. On Reddit, a post describing the map as “the worst in Battlefield history” has gathered over three thousand upvotes.

Players complain that Blackwell Fields is too small, linear, and open — the narrow boundaries and lack of cover leave soldiers exposed to snipers right from spawn. The bases are placed too close to each other, and the flat terrain limits flanking opportunities. The situation is made worse by bugs — for instance, some players report their characters occasionally start floating while walking.

Many also note that there’s too much vehicle presence for such a compact map, with little verticality or distinct points of interest. The frustration is amplified by the fact that fans have long requested larger and more complex maps — but according to them, Blackwell Fields has only made things worse.

Some consolation comes from the new mode Battlefield REDSEC, a free battle royale featuring the Fort Lydon map with 21 distinct locations. According to early impressions, it looks far more promising than the first seasonal arena.
