Publisher 101XP and developer Jujubee S.A. — the team behind Kursk — have released their new survival strategy Dark Moon on PC. The game debuted to an impressive 93% positive rating on Steam based on 32 reviews.

The story begins with a massive solar flare that cuts off all communication with Earth. Stranded on the Moon, a group of explorers must flee the scorching sunlight using a massive mobile base, hiding in the shadow of the lunar dark side. The goal is simple — survive as long as possible and hope for rescue.

Players must plan routes, stop in craters to gather resources, monitor crew morale, and make tough moral choices. When encountering other survivor teams, players must decide whether to take them aboard — risking limited supplies and potential unrest among their own crew.

Fans of the genre are praising the game’s originality.

If you enjoy survival strategy games where you have to adapt to changing conditions and make impactful decisions, Dark Moon is an excellent pick. The mobile base mechanic works perfectly — you’re constantly on the move, expanding, and planning your next steps.

The atmosphere is also winning over fans of retro-futuristic sci-fi.

A game with retro vibes and a great sci-fi setting — totally caught me off guard. It’s dark but deeply immersive. The soundtrack is phenomenal (props to the composer!), and since most of the game happens in darkness, it’s best played with the lights off and curtains closed.

However, players have also pointed out some technical issues.

Clunky interface, occasional sound drops, disappearing resource indicators. The game is very linear — if you fail to complete a story segment in time, you get soft-locked. The sun catches you, and there’s no escape. I was hyped for this game but ended up disappointed.

Other players have echoed similar concerns.

The concept is great — a mix of IXION, RimWorld, and Frostpunk. Lots of potential with factions, decrees, and crew management. But the controls are sluggish, everything feels like it’s moving through syrup. Translation errors, UI bugs. Waiting for the first-day patch.
