It looks like Avalanche Software is working not just on a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy, but on a full-fledged online RPG set in the Wizarding World. Newly posted job listings from the studio and its parent company, Warner Bros. Games, strongly suggest an ambitious multiplayer project.

The listings for Lead World Designer and Narrative Systems Designer mention skills typical of online RPG development — experience with live-service projects, progression and reward systems, and a passion for “fantasy literature and film franchises.” Some postings even explicitly reference work on an “online multiplayer role-playing game.”

Fans quickly noticed that this isn’t the first time Avalanche has dropped such hints. Earlier this summer, listings mentioned “a project set within an established universe” and experience building branching narrative systems — clues that point to a more dynamic, choice-driven online experience. Combined, these details have fueled speculation that Avalanche plans to evolve the Hogwarts Legacy universe into an MMO format.

While neither Warner Bros. nor Avalanche has commented on the rumors, the direction seems clear. After Hogwarts Legacy became one of the most successful single-player RPGs in recent years — selling over 22 million copies — the publisher appears eager to expand the franchise further.

Whether Hogwarts Legacy 2 will truly take the form of an MMORPG remains to be seen, but it seems the magical world of Hogwarts might soon open its doors to thousands of wizards at once.

Earlier, we reported that another legendary fantasy franchise — The Lord of the Rings — wasn’t as lucky, as Amazon reportedly canceled its planned MMO adaptation amid studio layoffs.
