The community manager at Pocketpair, the studio behind viral hit Palworld, shared his impressions of ARC Raiders. According to developer John Bucky, the new shooter from Embark Studios is a “technical marvel” that could set a new benchmark for Unreal Engine 5 games.
These days, it’s trendy to say “ugh, another bad Unreal Engine game,” because blaming engines has become fashionable. But ARC Raiders might become the new gold standard for Unreal Engine development. I’m genuinely impressed by what they’ve achieved.
ARC Raiders launched on October 30 and immediately generated huge buzz — peaking at over 350,000 concurrent players on Steam. Fans praised its visuals and stability, while developers from other studios highlighted its technical sophistication.
Still, the launch wasn’t without issues: a surge of players caused login queues and temporary outages, which Embark Studios promised to fix quickly. Meanwhile, the devs have been earning goodwill by restoring loot lost to cheaters — a move that’s helping build a positive community around the game.
