Sony May Be Preparing Cross-Buy System Between PS5 and PC — One Purchase for Two Platforms

According to insider billbil-kun, Sony appears to be gearing up to launch a new Cross-Buy system, similar to Xbox Play Anywhere, which would let players access the same game on both PS5 and PC with a single purchase.
Speculation about this upcoming feature began after an X user spotted new icons on the PS5 console labeled “Cross-Buy,” “PS5/PC,” and “PC.” Interestingly, these tags reportedly only appear on the console itself, not on the PlayStation website or mobile app.
The insider conducted his own investigation to verify the claims—and indeed found these icons hidden within the PS5 system.
Further analysis of PlayStation Store CSS files revealed references to a “crossbuy-tag,” which is responsible for displaying these new icons. When the discovered style is applied to text, it produces the exact visual effect seen on the console.
This suggests that Sony is actively working on something related to Cross-Buy, with these elements added in June 2025—indicating the feature is in an active development phase.
Sony previously used the term “Cross-Buy” during the PS3, PS4, and PS Vita era, allowing players to access purchased games across compatible platforms at no extra cost. If the new system follows the same principle, users will be able to play purchased games on both PS5 and PC without having to buy them twice. There’s no official confirmation from Sony Interactive Entertainment yet.
Previously, we reported that PlayStation Store introduced a user review feature.
