Max Payne 2 Gets a Fan-Made “Remaster” with NVIDIA Technologies

Modder Darko P has been working for some time on an RTX Remix Path Tracing modification for Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, and recently shared an eight-minute gameplay video showcasing the updated visuals. The mod is already available for free download.
Although the project is not yet complete, the creator promised that a full release will arrive soon on ModDB. However, the mod still suffers from a number of visual issues. For instance, bathroom mirrors look odd due to post-processing incompatibilities, so the modder chose not to replace them. There are also minor geometry glitches, where some objects may disappear or clip at certain camera angles.
Overall, the remastered game can sometimes appear slightly “plastic” — particularly noticeable on Mona Sax’s ponytail, which now looks like a doll accessory. The creator warns players not to expect the same level of quality as an official path-traced remaster — this is a fan project still in active development.
The mod can be downloaded via this link. The author noted that the project will likely take another couple of years to fully refine.
A similar fan-made “remaster” was previously released for the first Max Payne, also using NVIDIA’s ray tracing technology. Meanwhile, new updates recently surfaced regarding the approximate release window for the official Max Payne remake.
