Take-Two Interactive announced that Grand Theft Auto 6 will now release on November 19, 2026 — marking the game’s second delay. Previously, the launch had been scheduled for May 2026.
In an interview with The Game Business, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said the decision was made purely in the interest of quality.
When we set a date, we truly believe in it. When we set the last one, we said that if the game needed more time to become the best version possible, we would give it that time.
And that’s exactly what happened. We’re very happy with this release date. It’s still within the same fiscal year, it’s a great time for launch, and naturally, we fully support Rockstar Games’ approach.
We want to give consumers as much confidence as possible. And again, we feel quite good about this date.
Zelnick added that despite the delay, GTA 6 will still arrive within Take-Two’s current fiscal year. In the coming months, Rockstar Games will begin a large-scale marketing campaign, while continuing to actively support GTA Online, which is “performing above expectations.”
According to the latest report, GTA+ subscription numbers grew by 20%, and GTA 5 has now sold over 220 million copies worldwide.
