One of the disappointments of Red Dead Redemption 2 was the epilogue map, which didn’t allow players to return to Mexico. Modders have decided to take matters into their own hands and announced the development of a fan-made DLC, Nuevo Paraíso: The Forgotten Frontier, which will bring back the familiar lands from the first game—but in a completely new rendition.

The creators are rebuilding the region from the ground up, blending the aesthetic of the original Red Dead Redemption with the technical polish of its sequel. Every town, settlement, and camp is meticulously reconstructed with historical accuracy and atmosphere in mind, featuring unique vegetation, roads, and detailed elements that bring the world to life. NPCs go about their daily routines, the army patrols the borders, and hidden corners still hold secrets and traces of past events.

In addition to the visual overhaul, the mod introduces new side missions, secrets, and points of interest that expand the map without breaking the canon. The developers emphasize that they paid particular attention to lighting, tone, and overall mood so that the Mexican region feels like a natural part of Red Dead Redemption 2’s world.

The creators of The Forgotten Frontier consider it more than just a mod—it’s a full-fledged DLC, complete with its own atmosphere, missions, and the chance to experience Mexico as it was in 1907. The team promises to share more details soon.
