New alleged details about the next Tomb Raider game have surfaced online, suggesting that the project has undergone major internal revisions. The information comes from insider thevscooper, who has previously shared reliable leaks related to the franchise.

According to the source, the game is now in active production and will portray Lara Croft at the height of her career — a seasoned adventurer on a quest to find the mythical weapons of Ashoka, said to grant their wielder immense power and the ability to conquer.

Players can expect a fully open world featuring a wide variety of biomes, from harsh deserts and treacherous cliffs to lush jungles and icy mountain peaks. Reportedly, developers are focusing heavily on character depth and storytelling to deliver a more cinematic and emotionally rich experience.

The insider also reaffirmed that Lara’s main rivals might be The Society of Raiders — a faction of archaeologists and treasure hunters competing with her for ancient artifacts. However, it remains unclear whether this concept will appear in the final version or was part of an earlier prototype.

As of now, these details remain unofficial and should be treated as rumors. Crystal Dynamics is expected to reveal the game in the coming months, offering the first official look at the next Tomb Raider.

What’s confirmed is that the project has been in development on Unreal Engine 5 since 2022. While Crystal Dynamics recently went through staff layoffs, the studio assured that production remains on track. Previous reports suggested a potential release window of May 2026 — meaning the game could narrowly avoid launching alongside GTA 6.
