Nintendo has unveiled an extended gameplay trailer for the upcoming action title Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, set to launch on December 4 this year for both Switch and Switch 2. The next-gen version will offer several enhancements.

Here’s what the trailer revealed:

  • The story kicks off with Samus Aran responding to a distress signal and landing on a mysterious new planet, where she must explore intricate environments, battle enemies, and find a way home;
  • Players will explore a variety of biomes—jungles, icy labs, volcanic and industrial zones, as well as a central desert that can be traversed on the Vi-O-la bike;
  • Alongside classic Samus abilities (such as the Power Beam, missiles, and Morph Ball), new “psionic abilities” are introduced, letting players manipulate energy flows, activate mechanisms, and even alter beam trajectories with the power of thought;
  • In certain sections, you can summon and ride the Vi-O-la bike to cross the desert, fight enemies, and break through obstacles;
  • Some missions involve helping and rescuing other Federation soldiers, who can join your squad and provide upgrades—making co-op an integral part of the experience;
  • The Nintendo Switch 2 version supports 4K/60 FPS and 1080p/120 FPS, mouse mode, instant switching between standard and mouse controls, and HDR support;
  • New amiibo figures were announced, and there will be an upgrade pack allowing players to upgrade from the standard Switch version to Switch 2.

By the way, we recently covered the latest trailer for the life sim Pokémon Pokopia, which showed off a new version of Pikachu.
