“We Want to Continue the Legacy” — Arrowhead Already Planning a New Game Inspired by Helldivers 2

Arrowhead Game Studios is already working on its next title, and according to creative director Johan Pilestedt, the project won’t stray too far from Helldivers 2. The studio wants to build on the legacy of its hit co-op shooter, ensuring fans will instantly recognize the game’s familiar “DNA.”

Pilestedt shared that he’s currently in his favorite phase of development—the beginning—when a new team is coming together, internal barriers are being broken down, and the studio is figuring out what kinds of games they want to create together.

While there are no concrete details yet on gameplay or setting, hints suggest Arrowhead is likely to stick with its cooperative formula and unique approach, rather than chasing mass-market appeal. The studio also plans to keep supporting and expanding Helldivers 2 with updates before even considering a sequel.

Helldivers 2 launched in 2024 to widespread acclaim. It currently holds a 76% rating on Steam and an average press score of 82 on Metacritic. Previously, it was revealed that the game could receive support for up to ten years.
