Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2 Sales Officially Fall Short

Paradox Interactive has announced a write-down of SEK 355 million in capitalized development costs for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 in the fourth quarter of 2025. The decision is based on an updated sales forecast, which confirmed low performance for the project.
Paradox Interactive CEO Fredrik Wester noted that the development team did good work and that the game benefits from a strong brand and potential in a popular genre. However, actual sales did not meet expectations, which prompted the write-down. Wester emphasized that the responsibility for the forecasts lies with the publisher, and that the project was outside the company’s core segments, making demand harder to gauge.
Wester also assured that post-release support will continue, and all updates and expansions will be delivered over the coming year. The company added that it will focus on its core segments in the future and evaluate the strategy for developing the World of Darkness brand, on which the game is based.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 was released on October 21, 2025, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S after multiple delays and a lengthy development period. Unfortunately, the game received a lukewarm reception due to optimization issues, limited content, and a noticeable departure from the first installment. Our review can be read here.
