Tarantino Released Cut Chapter From 'Kill Bill' — Animated 'Yuki's Revenge' Premiered Right in Fortnite

Quentin Tarantino presented the animated short film "Yuki's Revenge" — a long-cut scene from Kill Bill that he wrote back in the early 2000s. The premiere took place on November 30 directly in Fortnite, where the approximately 10-minute video is available in the general section with new projects and events.

The episode was conceived as a link between the domestic scene with Vernita Green and the Tokyo part of the film: according to the script, the Bride is pursued by Yuki, Gogo Yubari's sister. The scene was cut due to runtime and budget, but now it has appeared as a separate animated work. Work on the video took place on Unreal Engine. Uma Thurman voiced the character again, and movements were recorded through motion capture technology.

Tarantino explained why it was important for him to bring back this scene — and why Fortnite became the platform for the premiere. In one segment he said:

I finally got to make my "Yuki's Revenge." This is a lost chapter I always wanted to show, and now it has seen the light.
— Quentin Tarantino

And in another — why he chose the gaming platform:

Moving this to Fortnite seemed right. It's a cinematic thing within a much bigger world — and the moment for it has finally arrived.
— Quentin Tarantino

In addition to the digital premiere, the short will be shown in theaters in the US, UK, and Canada starting December 5 — as a standalone video before the director's cut of Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair.

Earlier, the director steamrolled over The Hunger Games franchise. He called it plagiarism of one of his favorite works of the 21st century — the Japanese dystopia Battle Royale, which came out in the early 2000s.
