Beholgar 2, a retro 2D action game inspired by classic Sega Mega Drive and Super Nintendo Entertainment System titles, is now available on Steam. Designed as a Metroidvania, the game combines Castlevania-style gameplay with a setting reminiscent of Golden Axe.
Players will explore an interconnected world filled with dark dungeons, cursed forests, and forgotten temples, uncovering secrets and unlocking new areas by mastering magical abilities and ancient powers.
Along the way, the barbarian hero discovers legendary weapons, faces off against monsters and powerful bosses, and dives into a story inspired by Middle Eastern myths and supernatural elements. The game captures a true retro atmosphere, complete with optional visual filters to enhance its old-school style. Beholgar 2 is available at a 10% discount until December 8.
“The barbarian warrior Beholgar returns—and this time, his enemies are not of this world! Deep underground, the mighty Djinn King is awakening. To stop his rise and save the world from eternal darkness, Beholgar embarks on a quest for a legendary ancient sword,” reads the official description.
Last year, we also reported on the release of Abathor, another action title inspired by classics like Golden Axe, Rastan, and Altered Beast.
