The updated version of Red Dead Redemption has been released for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. A graphics comparison video has already appeared online, highlighting the visual differences between platforms. The game will also arrive on Android and iOS on December 4, and Netflix subscribers will be able to play it for free.
The video showcases comparisons on PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2, demonstrating differences in textures, shadows, resolution, level of detail, draw distance, loading screens, and frame rate.
Here are the main findings from the comparison:
- The updated version is available at no additional cost for those who already owned the game on previous-generation consoles;
- The PS5 version features enhanced settings compared to PS4, including improved detail, better shadow quality, and increased draw distance;
- While Switch 2 renders at a lower resolution, it performs on par with the PS5 in many aspects;
- The biggest difference from the PS4 version is a stable 60 frames per second on both PS5 and Switch 2, while the PS4 version runs at 30 FPS.
Red Dead Redemption is also now available in the PS Plus Extra catalog, so subscribers can play it at no extra cost.
Following this release, many RDR fans are hoping for an updated version of Red Dead Redemption 2 with support for current-generation consoles. According to rumors, such a release may indeed be in development.
