David Grivel has returned to Ubisoft Toronto to once again lead development on the Splinter Cell remake. Grivel previously served as the project’s director in 2021, but left a year later to join Electronic Arts and work on Battlefield 6.

In 2024, Grivel briefly joined Worlds Untold, but the studio was shut down as he was transitioning into his new role. Before that, he worked at Ubisoft on Splinter Cell: Blacklist and Assassin's Creed Unity, and served as lead game designer on Far Cry 5, Far Cry Primal, and Far Cry 6.

Prior to his new appointment, Grivel was working as a contractor, providing consulting for Elysium Game Studio and designing gameplay systems for Pixomondo.

The Splinter Cell remake was first announced in 2021. Some fans had feared the project was shelved, but according to multiple insiders, Ubisoft is still actively working on the game.

On a related note, this year saw the premiere of the animated series Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, which has already been renewed for a second season.
