Slipgate Ironworks has announced the release of a major update for Tempest Rising called Superior Firepower, bringing long-awaited superweapons and fresh multiplayer content to the game. The highlight of the update is a public test branch featuring the full Veti faction, available to players from December 2 to 15.
During the test, players can try out 9 buildings, 7 vehicles, 6 infantry units, 5 aircraft, 5 defensive structures, 5 specialists, and a unique superweapon — the Sanctifier Portal. This superweapon can wipe out enemy forces and create new minions called “Enlightened,” who bolster Veti’s armies. A unique feature of the Veti faction is the ability to sacrifice minions to enhance core structures and gain greater control over the battlefield.
In addition to Veti, the update introduces superweapons for both the GDF and Dynasty factions. The Drone Strike Station allows players to deploy drone turrets that deal massive damage, while the Excavator Platform triggers devastating earthquakes and enables the deployment of additional troops. The update also brings new options to limit superweapons in matches, as well as a global production queue that unifies all active construction into a single interface, making queue management faster and more convenient.
The game now features an integrated Codex — an in-game encyclopedia with comprehensive information on units, buildings, abilities, and faction passives. Logitech RGB support has also been added, letting keyboard lighting react to in-game events such as superweapon readiness and unit attacks. The visual system for Doctrine research has been improved, and a major balance pass has been applied to all GDF and Dynasty units and structures, including changes to health, damage, attack speed, and Intel mechanics.
The update fixes numerous bugs related to gameplay, multiplayer, maps, campaign, UI, visual effects, and overall stability. Fixes include issues with building restrictions, reconnecting to games, unit control, incorrect ability behavior, and interface information display.
Superior Firepower offers players new strategic options, a reworked late-game experience, and long-awaited multiplayer content with the Veti faction, making Tempest Rising an even more dynamic and diverse real-time strategy game.
Tempest Rising launched in April this year and has received very positive feedback from gamers. The game currently holds an 88% rating.
