Massive Skyrim Mod Letting You Become King Gets Major Update

Diana Golenko

Fans of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim can get ready for a major update: the large-scale mod Become High King of Skyrim: The Next Generation V2.0 is officially releasing on December 12, 2025.

Over the past year, mod developer WinterishClover has completely rebuilt the mod from scratch: all scripts have been rewritten, over 33,000 lines of dialogue have been fully redone with voices from Elevenlabs, new quests and NPCs have been added, a custom soundtrack and bard songs created, and a new location in the Jerrall Mountains introduced.

What’s New in Version 2.0:

  • Hundreds of new quests and NPCs filling all key positions in the kingdom.
  • Thousands of custom assets: armor, weapons, and spells.
  • Skyrim management system: approval ratings, taxes, expenses, economy, foreign policy, court, ambassadors, and army promotions.
  • Fully rewritten dialogues and voices for all NPCs.
  • Custom soundtrack and bard songs.

WinterishClover says he spent over 2,000 hours across 11 months to create one of the most expansive and deeply developed endgame mods for Skyrim. According to the developer, each playthrough will be unique for players. On release day, additional patches for other mods will also be provided to prevent conflicts with Become High King of Skyrim.

Previously, it was reported that an unofficial remake of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion on the Skyrim engine has been postponed to 2026.
