Blizzard has announced Lord of Hatred, the second story expansion for the action RPG Diablo 4. The studio unveiled the first cinematic trailer and confirmed that the DLC is set to launch on April 28, 2026.
“Hatred rises and Sanctuary is on the brink of destruction at Mephisto’s hands. The next chapter of The Age of Hatred saga is upon us,” the official description reads.
The cinematic trailer confirms Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred, as the expansion’s main antagonist, with his sinister plans threatening to plunge Sanctuary into a new wave of destruction. The story takes players to a new region, Skovos—a land tied to ancient orders and cults, where natural cataclysms and demonic hordes intertwine with intrigue as the final chapter of the Age of Hatred arc unfolds.
Lord of Hatred introduces two new classes to Diablo 4, expanding build and playstyle options. The first is the highly anticipated Paladin, returning from classic entries in the series and combining melee combat, shield play, and holy magic. The second class remains under wraps, fueling speculation and excitement ahead of release.
Blizzard promises “one of the most significant gameplay evolutions since Diablo 4’s launch,” with the expansion overhauling endgame activities, loot systems, class abilities, and adding new mechanics for deeper character customization. Key features include the return of the legendary Horadric Cube, a new Horde-style mode, and expanded tools for filtering and upgrading gear.
Lord of Hatred will be available in multiple editions, with pre-orders granting early access to the Paladin and a range of cosmetic bonuses for Diablo 4 and other Blizzard titles. The expansion will simultaneously conclude the current story arc and set a new direction for endgame meta, making it a pivotal moment for returning veterans and new players alike.
