Compulsion Games has announced an expanded platform lineup for its atmospheric action-adventure South of Midnight. The game, set in a mystical reimagining of the American Deep South, will be available not only on Xbox and PC, but also on Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5.
The release on both consoles is expected in Spring 2026, following a year of timed exclusivity on PC and Xbox. Compulsion Games promises to share more details at a later date.
South of Midnight transports players to a magical version of the Deep South inhabited by creatures of local folklore. A looming catastrophe threatens the town of Prospero, and the protagonist, Hazel, becomes a Spinner — a guardian of arcane weaving magic capable of restoring the broken bonds between the world of the living and the spirits of the past. As she explores swamps, forests, and decaying settlements, Hazel uncovers the secrets of her heritage and encounters ghosts and mythical beings in a southern-gothic fairytale atmosphere.
It’s worth noting that at today’s The Game Awards, the game won in one of the categories, becoming the most socially impactful project of 2025. Our review of this lesser-known but noteworthy title from the creators of We Happy Few can be found here.
