Remake of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Compared to the 30-Year-Old Original

Blogger ElAnalistaDeBit has already compared the Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis with the 1996 original. Unsurprisingly, the updated game is strikingly different from its low-polygon predecessor.
Tomb Raider has been fully rebuilt from the ground up: the remake features entirely new textures, animations, locations, gameplay, puzzles, and other environmental elements. The trailer meticulously recreates key moments from the original game frame by frame. Interestingly, the developers at Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog paid special attention to Lara Croft’s model, ensuring that the character’s figure was not downgraded in any way.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is set to release in 2026, though the exact date have not yet been confirmed. The project promises a faithful modernization of the classic, retaining the original atmosphere and story.
For reference, the first trailer for Tomb Raider: Catalyst, the next entry in the series, was revealed at The Game Awards 2025, with a release scheduled for 2027.
