It seems the wait for the next mainline entry in The Elder Scrolls may stretch on for quite some time. Insider, journalist, and podcaster Reece “Kiwi Talkz” Reilly has claimed that The Elder Scrolls 6 shouldn’t be expected before 2028 at the earliest, with 2029 being the most likely release window.
According to Reilly, Bethesda is deliberately avoiding even rough release dates — not out of caution, but pragmatism. After announcing the game far too early, naming any timeframe now would, in his view, do more harm than good.
The insider also voiced concerns that The Elder Scrolls 6 could suffer a fate similar to Metroid Prime 4: years of anticipation, strong sales driven by the franchise’s name, but a mixed critical reception and a divided community.
Officially, Bethesda continues to remain silent, offering neither concrete dates nor new details about the project. For now, fans have little choice but to keep waiting.
Recently, Bethesda commented on the development status of TES 6, stating that work is progressing steadily and that the team has no intention of rushing the project.
