Hideo Kojima has once again sparked interest in his mysterious project OD, admitting that he understands why players are confused—and that is exactly why he is in no hurry to reveal the details. In an interview with Nikkei Xtrend, the game designer said that OD is a media project “like no other.”

According to Kojima, at first glance OD may look like a conventional horror title, but beneath the surface lies a completely unconventional system:

Everything is made in a game engine, and a game is still a game, but the system itself is entirely different. That’s why we are creating an entirely new form of media together with Microsoft.
— Hideo Kojima

Kojima declined to go into further details, joking that otherwise “Phil Spencer would get mad.” Instead, the creator of Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding encouraged fans to take a closer look at the teaser:

If you watch the trailer many times, there is a hint there. I can’t say what it is, but if you watch it 100 times… At the end of the trailer, the phrase "for all players and screamers" appears—and that’s also an important hint.
— Hideo Kojima

OD was announced during the Xbox Showcase and is being developed with the support of Microsoft, but its exact format remains a mystery. Kojima has previously admitted that even he is not entirely sure what OD will ultimately become, or whether the concept will fully work.

The game designer has hinted at hidden clues in the OD trailer before, mentioning them in another interview about the project. It has also been revealed that Eidos Montréal was involved in development at one point, but the partnership was later terminated due to the need to relocate work to Japan.
