“Traveling with Elle Fanning on Your Back”: Hideo Kojima Reveals Which Films He Would Like to Turn into Games
In a recent interview with Wired, legendary Japanese game designer Hideo Kojima also shared his thoughts on the possibility of adapting films into video games. The developer highlighted a couple of projects, including one featuring Elle Fanning, the actress who took part in the creation of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
When asked if there are any films he would like to turn into games, Kojima said he is considering several options. Among them is Predator: Badlands, which he described as “quite game-like” — though he is not yet ready to take on the project:
I’m thinking about trying to adapt a film into a game. Recently, I watched Predator: Badlands, and it seemed quite game-like to me. The idea of traveling with Elle Fanning on your back… I also recently looked into the film Last Samurai Standing — the story there is also very game-like and fits perfectly for a game.
I haven’t decided yet whether I’ll actually make something out of this, but I think, why not? I believe these are truly worlds and stories that are well suited for video games.
For those unfamiliar with the films, in the new Predator, Elle Fanning plays a synthetic who has lost her legs, so the protagonist, a young Yautja named Dec, is forced to carry her on his back like a backpack.
Earlier, Kojima also discussed which of his own games he considers his best work and revealed plans to develop a project specifically for AI training.
