NiGHTS Soars into Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds with Free Update

The arcade racer Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has received a free content update, introducing a new playable character – NiGHTS from the NiGHTS game series – along with the Dream Sleeper vehicle.

NiGHTS is an anthropomorphic being, sporting a purple costume and a horned cap. Originally created by the evil ruler Wizeman to conquer the dream world, NiGHTS rebelled against its creator, choosing freedom and the protection of dreams instead. The character famously debuted in NiGHTS into Dreams and later appeared in NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams.

Looking ahead, SEGA plans to introduce several more free characters to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. In January, AiAi from Super Monkey Ball will join the roster, followed by Tangle and Whisper from the Sonic universe in February. Furthermore, before the end of 2026, the racer will receive four paid DLC packs featuring characters from other beloved franchises. These upcoming DLCs will bring content inspired by Pac-Man, Mega Man, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and the Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series. These expansions will also be included as part of a Season Pass.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds originally launched in September 2025 on PC (via Steam and EGS), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch, later arriving on the Nintendo Switch 2 in December.
