The Elder Scrolls Online Is Undergoing Major Changes with the Introduction of the Tamriel Tome Battle Pass
ZeniMax Online Studios has announced one of the biggest updates in the history of The Elder Scrolls Online. More than a decade after its 2014 launch, the acclaimed MMO with millions of players worldwide is getting a new progression system — a battle pass known as the Tamriel Tome.
The first volume, titled The Tome of Dawn and Dusk, will go live on April 2, 2026, marking the beginning of ESO’s so-called “Season Zero.” The Tamriel Tome will be available in free and premium versions. According to ZeniMax, the free tier will still provide a solid array of rewards, including in-game currency, while the premium tier will offer exclusive cosmetic items and quality-of-life bonuses, but no gameplay advantages.
Much like traditional battle pass systems, players will “turn the pages” of the Tamriel Tome, unlocking levels by completing events, challenges, in-game activities, and seasonal modes.
What’s inside the Tamriel Tome
- Cosmetic items
- Consumables – research scrolls, gear enhancement kits, and more
- Currency
- Collectibles – weapon and ability styles, housing items, and decorations
Among the rewards is a new resource type called Gold Coast Bazaar Trade Bars. Players can spend these in the Gold Coast Bazaar, a new shop that exclusively sells items from the Tamriel Tome.
As part of “Season Zero,” ZeniMax plans to phase out daily login rewards, integrating most of their contents into the new battle pass. From that point on, the Tamriel Tome will serve as the primary source of regular player rewards in ESO.
ESO Plus Subscriber Bonuses
The team also shared details about ESO Plus subscriber benefits. Premium members will enjoy:
- Accelerated Tome Point gain
- Free Tome Points and Premium Tome Tokens tied to subscription purchases
- The ability to earn premium Tomes for free over time
With a long-term subscription, ESO Plus members will effectively be able to unlock the paid version of the Tamriel Tome without additional cost.
