Five Minutes of Gameplay from The Blood of the Dawnwalker Shown — From Former The Witcher 3 Developers

At the New Game Plus Showcase, a five-minute gameplay segment of The Blood of Dawnwalker was shown — a dark fantasy open-world action game by Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by veterans of CD Projekt Red.

This project will be the debut title for the studio, which was founded in 2022 by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, former game director of The Witcher 3 and head of production on Cyberpunk 2077. The game is a narrative-driven action RPG set in an alternative version of 14th-century Europe.

Players take control of Coen, a cursed being who remains human during the day but transforms into a vampire at night. Coen has 30 days and nights to save his family, who were abducted by powerful vampires that have seized control of the fictional kingdom of Vale Sangora in the Carpathian Mountains.

Gameplay changes dramatically depending on the time of day. During the daytime, Coen fights with a sword using a directional blocking system and employs magical runes. At night, he gains access to vampiric abilities — lethal claws, Shadowstep teleportation, and the ability to move across vertical surfaces. The game features a time-management system and presents players with moral choices between humanity and vampiric instincts.

Rebel Wolves emphasize the importance of the blood thirst system — if Coen does not sate his hunger by feeding on enemies, animals, or innocent villagers, he may lose control and unintentionally kill an important story character. Additionally, the developers have noted that the world is being built entirely from scratch, without relying on traditional vampire mythology. Their goal is to tell a story about a world that contains vampires, rather than a story about vampires themselves.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is being developed on Unreal Engine 5 and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The game is scheduled to release in 2026 on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
