Crimson Desert world will be larger than Red Dead Redemption 2 and Skyrim — new video and details from Pearl Abyss

Developers from Pearl Abyss have revealed new details about the scale of the world in Crimson Desert. The information was shared by the studio’s marketing and strategic planning specialist Will Powers during The New Game Plus Showcase presentation.

According to him, the game map of Crimson Desert surpasses the open world of Red Dead Redemption 2 in size. Moreover, it is at least twice as large as the playable space of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

At the same time, Powers emphasized that the team is focusing not only on scale but also on world density. The Pywel region will feature a high level of interactivity, although some systems have not yet been shown — including crafting and housing mechanics. Certain previously revealed elements, such as the Sky Islands and their associated puzzles, remain largely unexplored, but still evoke comparisons to Zelda-style world exploration.

It was also noted that players will be able to fight dragons in the game, as shown earlier in previous materials, although the possibility of completely killing them has not yet been confirmed. In addition, the game will feature a large number of factions, whose presence will not affect the final outcome of the story.

Crimson Desert is scheduled to release on March 19 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
