Baldur's Gate 3 Switch 2 Release In Doubt Amid Larian And Hasbro Tensions

Well-known insider NateTheHate has claimed that a release of Baldur's Gate 3 on Nintendo Switch 2 is now in serious doubt. According to him, despite Larian Studios being interested in adapting the game for Nintendo's next console, the studio’s relationship with Hasbro / Wizards of the Coast is currently far from amicable.

This is the unfortunate truth. While Larian would love to bring Baldur's Gate 3 to the Switch 2... their relationship with Hasbro/Wizards of the Coast is not healthy.

He also added that back at the end of last year he had already heard that a Switch 2 version of Baldur's Gate 3 was not in development, although at the time he was still waiting for confirmation from additional sources.

Previously, representatives of Larian Studios did not rule out the possibility of bringing the game to other platforms, but no official plans or announcements regarding a Nintendo Switch 2 version have been made so far. The developers also recently confirmed during a Reddit Q&A session that they would like to make use of Nintendo’s new console, but emphasized that the final decision is not up to them.

Meanwhile, fans of Baldur's Gate 3 recently received an unexpected gift: modders released an add-on that restores dozens of items and spells cut from the game. At the same time, the Larian community is trying to “restore justice” elsewhere — despite the game winning the Labor of Love award at The Steam Awards 2025, many fans believe that No Man's Sky was more deserving of the title.
