Crimson Desert Deep Dive Reveals Multiple Playable Characters, Factions, and Abyss Puzzles

Pearl Abyss has released a new overview trailer for Crimson Desert, spotlighting main protagonist Kliff and the open world of Pywel. The video showcases key features of the upcoming action RPG along with fresh gameplay footage from the latest build.

Kliff is a mighty warrior of the Greymanes, a northern clan fighting to reunite its fractured ranks and resist the hostile alliance of the Black Bears. Crimson Desert offers not only a story‑driven campaign, but also free exploration of a vast world filled with wild expanses, bustling cities, ancient ruins, and the mysterious Abyss floating above the continent.

The game features three playable characters, each with their own combat style, abilities, and signature weapons. While the main narrative focuses on Kliff, players will be able to freely switch to other heroes when exploring the world or tackling side quests. The open world is divided into five regions and rewards curiosity with hidden caves, puzzles, treasure maps, and secret artifacts scattered across Pywel.

Factions play a major role in Crimson Desert, with some acting as allies and others as deadly enemies. Completing faction‑based quests unlocks new vendors, gear, and resources that can be used to rebuild the Greymanes’ home base. Liberating regions makes them safer to travel and helps restore ruined settlements for their former inhabitants.

Traversal is designed to be varied and dynamic, giving players tools such as a glider, enhanced jumps, and other mobility skills early on. Later in the game, exploration opens up even more surprising options, including piloting a rocket‑armed combat mech and even taking direct control of a dragon. The Abyss itself is a separate dimension filled with puzzles inspired by mechanics from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, heavily emphasizing environmental interaction and creative problem‑solving.

Players can discover artifacts that unlock new abilities, collect Abyss fragments to activate fast‑travel points, and pick up contextual hints about quests and upgrades simply by observing characters and objects in the world. Crimson Desert is scheduled to launch on March 19 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, with the developers confirming the game has gone gold and is on track with no delays expected.
