miHoYo Publishes Anti-Corruption Results: Former Staff Sentenced to Prison for Bribery and Kickbacks
miHoYo, the company behind Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, has released the results of internal anti-corruption investigations, under which several developers and other staff members were prosecuted and sentenced to prison. The cases involve commercial bribery and abuse of authority.
According to the official report, multiple former miHoYo employees used their positions to solicit kickbacks and illegal payments from partner companies. The court found them guilty under charges of accepting bribes as non-state personnel.
Outcomes:
- One received 1 year and 4 months in prison;
- Two more got 1 year and 3 months;
- A former employee was sentenced to 6 months for similar offenses.
The company also noted that partner suppliers implicated in these incidents have been placed on an internal fraud blacklist and will no longer be able to work with miHoYo in the future. miHoYo added that it plans to further strengthen its internal compliance and anti-fraud systems to prevent similar incidents and maintain what it describes as a fair, honest, and transparent business environment.
What do you think — are these punishments fair for developers?
