Lionsgate and Saber Interactive Announce ‘John Wick’ AAA Game

Aleksandr Manin

Lionsgate and Saber Interactive have revealed the first trailer for a AAA game based on the John Wick franchise during State of Play. The project is coming to PS5 and other platforms, though a release date has not yet been announced.

The John Wick game is being developed by Saber Interactive (Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, World War Z) under license from Lionsgate. This is a full-scale AAA production — not a smaller experimental project like John Wick Hex (2019), which remains the franchise’s only previous game adaptation.

Lionsgate first hinted at a big-budget game back in 2023, when CEO Jon Feltheimer told investors that “John Wick could make a great AAA game” and that the company was reviewing proposals.

Gameplay details remain under wraps, but fans are expecting fast-paced action built around the franchise’s signature “gun-fu” style — a blend of close-quarters combat and balletic shootouts. The John Wick film series starring Keanu Reeves has grossed over $1 billion worldwide, making it a natural fit for a large-scale video game adaptation.

Saber Interactive is known for action-heavy titles with cooperative elements and large-scale combat, which could translate well into the world of elite assassins.

At the same time, Lionsgate is also developing a AAA game based on the Saw franchise — the first since 2010. Both projects were confirmed during the company’s November 2025 earnings call, but today marked the first public trailer reveal.
