A new comparison video has appeared online, showcasing how Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has changed as part of Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2. The footage presents the original PlayStation 3 version side by side with the updated release running on PlayStation 5.

The difference is immediately noticeable. While the 2008 release was once considered a technical showcase for the PS3, the new version delivers a cleaner image, higher clarity, and improved detail. Judging by the footage, this looks less like a simple port to modern hardware and more like a full modernization of the game’s visuals.

The collection was officially unveiled during Sony’s State of Play presentation. Publisher Konami confirmed that the release is set for August 27, 2026, with pre-orders already available on the PlayStation Store. The project continues the company’s strategy of bringing classic entries in the series to current platforms in a unified package.

In addition to Metal Gear Solid 4, the collection includes Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker in its HD Collection version, as well as the handheld Metal Gear: Ghost Babel, which will be available via the bonus content section. Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 will launch on August 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch (including Switch 2), Xbox Series S/X, and PC.
