Radical Entertainment, the studio behind The Simpsons: Hit & Run and Prototype, is returning to the industry as New Radical Games. The new outfit positions itself as a powerhouse merger of Radical Entertainment and Hothead Games veterans.

The studio is led by industry heavyweights: Radical co-founder Ian Wilkinson takes the helm as CEO, while Tim Bennison, former head of Capcom Vancouver, steps in as COO.

According to the official website, New Radical Games will focus on work-for-hire development across console and mobile platforms. Their services range from full-cycle development to co-dev support, porting, and remastering legacy titles.

The news has already sparked a frenzy on social media, with fans holding out hope for a Prototype revival or a Hit & Run remake. However, there is currently no official word on whether any sequels or remasters are actually in production.

Originally founded in Vancouver in 1991, Radical Entertainment was acquired by Vivendi in 2005 before passing to Activision in 2008. By 2013, the studio had effectively ceased operations, and its legal entity was eventually dissolved. Hothead Games, known for Penny Arcade Adventures and DeathSpank, later pivoted to mobile gaming before filing for bankruptcy in late 2024.
