The first experts appeared in Marathon, who told about the main mistake of the newcomers

The recent beta test of Marathon was not in vain. The players realized exactly what Bungie was offering them in the competitive extraction-shooter market. The project already has its own veterans who have started sharing tips with newcomers.
One of the rules that the most experienced players have learned is not to run with a knife. Yes, you can move faster this way, and the rush to the evacuation point can be called justified. However, the sounds of footsteps are too clearly audible in Marathon.
If you find yourself next to a group of people running with knives, you will most likely hear their footsteps. At the same time, they do not have serious weapons, so your squad can easily cope with an ambush.
Also in Marathon, the time required to kill is very short. Therefore, if the unit cannot immediately return fire, it is unlikely that it will be able to survive.
Players who want to show good results should be patient. You need to walk and listen: shots can be heard from afar. The one who can withstand the time will be able to strike first.
Those who have tested Marathon say that the game is similar to Hunt: Showdown 1896, because battles with non-player characters are almost discouraged. To defeat high-level enemies, you need to spend a lot of resources. At the same time, protracted battles create a lot of noise that can be heard from afar. This makes Marathon quite different from ARC Raiders, where a lot of attention is focused on the confrontation between the player and the environment.
Recall that the Marathon stress test recently ended. Bungie's game showed impressive online growth, which quickly halved. However, the shooter was still able to beat such giants as Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
