Fans Want Antony Starr as Wesker in the New 'Resident Evil' Reboot — and He Seems Interested
A fan campaign is gaining momentum online to cast Antony Starr — best known for playing Homelander in The Boys — as Albert Wesker in the upcoming Resident Evil reboot. Digital artist BossLogic shared a fan edit showing Starr as Wesker with the caption: “Whoever is working on the new Resident Evil movie — make this happen.” The actor himself responded with a brief comment: “Agreed.”
Later, at the Big Texas Con fan convention, an attendee asked Starr about the casting rumors — and he confirmed that he would be interested: “I want that role.” Reactions online have been mixed:
I want him to play Wesker — just for the “seven minutes” line.
Honestly, it would be too easy for him.
No, find someone else. He’s good, but not perfect. We need someone who looks more like Wesker.
Resident Evil fans don’t want to see him in that role.
The new Resident Evil reboot is being directed by Zach Cregger, the filmmaker behind the horror movies The Weapons and Barbarian. The project will reportedly be a completely standalone story within the universe, meaning familiar characters may not appear at all. The film is scheduled to premiere on September 18, 2026. No official cast has been announced yet, and it’s unclear whether Wesker will appear in the movie.
