Sony has once again begun purging the PlayStation Store of low-quality games. This time, more than a thousand projects were removed from the store, many of which were created by Nostra Games and CGI Lab studios. The developers claim that they have not received any explanation from the company.

Recently, the PlayStation Store, Steam, and other stores have been plagued by an abundance of one-day games. As a rule, they are created in large numbers using artificial intelligence and without much effort. In January, Sony had already deleted more than a thousand similar projects, all of them created by ThiGames. For example, the studio had a whole series of identical games in which you need to jump, being some kind of product.

Now the Cypriot company Nostra Games, which had about 700 games in the PlayStation Store, got under distribution. After deleting the projects, a studio representative posted a message on Discord stating that Sony's decision had no impact on the development team.

«Unfortunately, PlayStation Store has removed our games, and we’re unable to provide an exact reason because it wasn’t shared with us either… For know we are planning to continue releasing on Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and Steam».

At the same time, the studio admitted that the situation came as a surprise, because the developers planned to continue making games for the PlayStation.

Another company affected by the removal of games is CGI Lab. She had horror films with a first-person view — Platform 0 and Veins of Darkness.

MP1st reports that there could be several reasons for deleting games. The most obvious is the low quality of projects and the widespread use of generative AI. However, it may also be that these are cheap games with too easy achievements. It often takes very little time and effort to get trophies in such games, and there are dozens of guides online on how to knock out Platinum in a few minutes.

What do you think Sony's goal is by removing hundreds of games from the store at the same time?
