YouTuber ElAnalistaDeBits has published a comparison between DLSS 4.5 upscaling on PC and PSSR 2.0 on PlayStation 5 Pro. The video features the following games: Resident Evil Requiem, Alan Wake 2, Crimson Desert, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Silent Hill f, and Silent Hill 2.
Here are the creator’s key takeaways:
- DLSS 4.5, even in low and medium quality modes, generally delivers higher image quality and performance than PSSR 2.0. However, Sony’s technology has improved significantly over its first version and has narrowed the gap;
- There are exceptions: in some games, such as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, PSSR 2.0 can outperform DLSS. In other titles, like Silent Hill 2, artifacts are still noticeable (for example, in reflections on puddles or in areas with ambient occlusion) when using performance upscaling on PS5 Pro, which is likely why upscaling is disabled in those cases;
- Ultimately, both solutions are among the best on the market. DLSS still leads for now, while Sony has some catching up to do in terms of quality and features like Frame Generation and Ray Reconstruction.
Meanwhile, NVIDIA is working on DLSS 5, which has already sparked heated debates among both gamers and developers.
Have you noticed a significant difference between DLSS 4.5 and PSSR 2.0? Which technology do you think is better?
