Sniper Elite and Atomfall Devs Announce Alien Deathstorm — A Blend of Shooter, Survival Horror, and ’80s Sci-Fi
Rebellion has officially unveiled Alien Deathstorm, a brand-new sci-fi shooter with survival horror elements. Set on a devastated alien colony that has suffered a catastrophic “Deathstorm,” the game picks up after all contact with the site has been lost.
Players will step into the boots of a combat engineer — a specialist in rescue operations, combat, and technical support. Your mission: uncover the truth behind the colony’s disappearance and try to save any survivors, all while facing off against aggressive alien creatures.
Atmosphere & Gameplay
The developers are focusing on a tense atmosphere and a constant sense of danger. According to the team, even when players feel like they have the upper hand, true safety will always be out of reach.
Key Features:
- Genre Hybrid: A mix of fast-paced shooting and survival horror;
- Hazardous Environment: Deadly storms that actively impact gameplay;
- Exploration & Survival: Scavenge for resources and investigate the ruined base;
- Retro Sci-Fi Inspiration: ’80s-inspired sci-fi aesthetics with an “analog” vibe.
The devs also cite Lovecraftian horror as an influence, bringing an extra layer of darkness and mystery to the experience.
The Storm as a Core Mechanic
Special attention has been given to the “Deathstorm” — a planet-wide atmospheric disaster. Players will need to keep an eye on the weather, seek shelter, and adapt to destructive hurricane-force winds that can be just as deadly as the alien threats themselves.
Alien Deathstorm is set to launch in 2027 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S (Xbox Play Anywhere). The game will also be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
Meanwhile, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is also in development, and a sequel to Alien: Isolation was confirmed in 2024.
