“Don’t listen to Google”: Stardew Valley player makes 136 bottles of useless rice juice thanks to AI
A funny but telling situation happened to a Stardew Valley player — they trusted a Google AI suggestion and ended up wasting a lot of resources. Instead of vinegar, which they were trying to produce, they got… 136 bottles of rice juice.
The issue came down to wording. The AI suggested that vinegar could be made by placing rice (or unmilled rice) into a keg. In reality, the rice first needs to be processed in a mill — otherwise the game produces a completely different item. The player skipped that step and ended up with a warehouse full of a useless product.
Don’t listen to Google and don’t throw unmilled rice into a keg if you don’t want a mountain of rice juice.
Rice juice itself isn’t entirely useless — it can be sold for about 90 gold or consumed for a small boost to health and energy. But it’s hardly the result you expect when building dozens of kegs.
The story quickly spread across the community and became another example of how AI-generated answers can look convincing while still containing critical mistakes — especially if you don’t double-check information in sources like wikis or other players.
Have you ever been in a situation like this — trusting someone (or AI) and it turned out to be a big mistake?
