There is only a part of the game on the disc: Starfield will not be able to run on PS5 without an internet connection
The impressive amount of memory required to install Starfield on PlayStation 5 is not the only problem. It turned out that the game did not fit on the discs, so downloading from physical copies would be impossible without the Internet.
Shortly before the release of the PS5 version of Starfield, information appeared about how much the game would weigh. The basic version will require 123 GB of console disk space. However, if you take into account all the additions, you will need to free up almost 140 GB.
Enthusiasts have already found out that the disk contains only 81 GB of data. Of course, this is not enough to install the game, given the information that appeared earlier. This means that when the player starts offline for the first time, they will be prompted to connect to the Internet. You will be able to play without a network connection only after downloading the missing data.
Push Square notes that the solution could be to release Starfield on two discs. However, the publisher most likely decided to save on physical copies. This can be a problem for connoisseurs of this format, because many people buy discs for the sake of confidence in the safety of the game in the future. At the same time, if Sony's servers are disabled, the physical copies with the reloading requirement will lose their meaning.
A similar situation occurred in mid-March, before the release of Crimson Desert. Insiders have found out that physical copies for PlayStation 5 cannot be launched without an Internet connection. About 76 GB of data was copied from the disk instead of the required 150 GB.
Is the autonomy of physical copies important to you? Or does it not matter if the game is working?
