98% Positive Rating: Hardcore 2D Action Game Blending Zelda and Bloodborne Hits Steam
Tombwater, a hardcore 2D pixel-art action game featuring souls-like and metroidvania elements, has officially launched on Steam. The project has already garnered an impressive 98% positive rating from players.
Set in a grim version of the Wild West, Tombwater follows a lone gunslinger who arrives in a haunted mining town in search of a missing friend. To survive and uncover the truth, the protagonist must dismantle an army of eldritch horrors using an arsenal of firearms, blades, spells, and cursed amulets. According to the team at indie studio Moth Atlas, the game features 25 unique bosses, over 100 enemy types, 16 distinct biomes, and a massive collection of more than 50 weapons, 40 spells, and 40 amulets. The developers cite The Legend of Zelda and Bloodborne as their primary inspirations.
Early Steam reviews have praised the game for its punishing difficulty, atmospheric world-building, haunting soundtrack, and fluid combat system, as well as its striking art style and wealth of content.
In other Steam news, the ocean-based city-building survival game ALL WILL FALL recently made its debut. Additionally, Capcom’s classic RPG Breath of Fire 4 has also arrived on Valve’s platform.
