Pokemon Champions Launches Today for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2
Pokemon Champions is out now as a free-to-play PvP turn-based action title for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Mobile versions for Android and iOS are also slated for a future release.
In Pokemon Champions, Trainers can dive into traditional turn-based online battles featuring classic series mechanics, including typing, abilities, and move sets. Players can compete in both Single and Double battles across three distinct modes: Ranked, Casual, and Private (for playing with friends).
Launching alongside the base game is the Pokemon Champions + Starter Pack, which bundles the game with in-game bonuses to kickstart your journey to the top. Additionally, Nintendo Switch 2 owners can download a free day-one update that enhances the game's visual performance. Players who log in to Pokémon Champions by August 31, 2026, will receive a special bonus: Dragonite and 100 Speed Coupons. Furthermore, the Season 1 Battle Pass offers a unique Mega Stone, allowing Dragonite to Mega Evolve.
This news follows the recent announcement that Absolum, the 2D action title from the creators of Streets of Rage 4, is also headed to Switch 2. This comes on the heels of the action-adventure hit South of Midnight arriving on Nintendo's platform.
