Warhammer Classics Return — Cult Games Revived on Steam

Publisher SNEG, in partnership with Games Workshop and several collaborators, has announced the launch of Warhammer Classics—a major initiative to bring back and re-release over 20 iconic games from the Warhammer universes on PC.

Warhammer Classics Return to Steam

The new lineup combines both re-releases and Steam debuts for projects that were previously unavailable on the platform. Some titles are making their first-ever appearance in Valve’s digital store, while others are returning after a long absence. According to the developers, all games have been adapted for modern systems while preserving their original gameplay, with no changes made to the core experience.

As SNEG director Oleg Klapovskiy emphasized, the aim of the project is to preserve Warhammer’s gaming legacy and make the franchise accessible to a new generation of players—without losing the historical value of the originals.

Which Games Are Included in Warhammer Classics

The launch lineup features dozens of titles from various eras of the franchise, ranging from strategy to tactical RPGs. Some of the most notable include:

The collection also features the Space Hulk, Blood Bowl, and Warhammer Quest series, among other games—including both modern remasters and classic releases from the late '90s and 2000s.

Why This Matters

The Warhammer Classics project finally solves a long-standing issue for fans: many older games were either unavailable on modern systems or had vanished from digital stores. Now, these classics will receive centralized support, updated compatibility, and stable performance on new PCs.

To celebrate the launch, all games are available at a discount for a limited time and are bundled together in themed collections.

Warhammer Classics is shaping up to be one of the largest initiatives for preserving Warhammer’s gaming history—and it’s also a chance for new players to explore the universe’s roots without facing the technical hurdles of old releases.

Meanwhile, Total War: Warhammer 40,000 is in development and has already been wishlisted by over 1 million users. We’ve gathered all the details about this upcoming game in a separate article.

What do you think of initiatives like Warhammer Classics, where classic cult games return to Steam with updated compatibility but unchanged gameplay—is this the right way to preserve gaming history, or would you prefer full remasters or remakes?
