"Game of Thrones" in theaters: Warner Bros confirms work on the film Aegon's Conquest
The Game of Thrones universe is expanding again, but this time the authors have set their sights on the big screens. Warner Bros studio has confirmed the creation of a spin-off called Aegon's Conquest at the CinemaCon 2026 festival.
This spin-off is different from House of the Dragon and The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which were filmed in a series format. For the big screens, decided to choose one of the most important eras in the George R.R. Martin universe. The events will take place 300 years before the Game of Thrones. The authors describe in detail the brutal military campaign that united most of Westeros under the rule of the Targaryens.
In the books, Aegon was the first ruler to unite six of the seven kingdoms, which he managed to do in just two years. He was also the first king of the Targaryen dynasty. After the invasion of Westeros, Aegon forged the famous Iron Throne from the swords of his enemies.
Beau Willimon, who was the showrunner and screenwriter of the House of Cards series, is responsible for the script of the new film.
However, if someone is waiting for a new project in which the main characters from Game of Thrones will return, then the chances of this are less and less. Earlier, Emilia Clarke announced that she would not return to the role of Daenerys Targaryen.
